The WLIS Choir was founded in 1988 by Mr. Randy Leazenby. It is a non-auditioned group made up of students in grades 4-6. Our choir meets after school in the music room two days a week, on Tuesdays and Thursdays from 2:20- 3:30 p.m. The choir performs more challenging musical selections than the regular general music classes, but is considered a teaching choir. We perform throughout the year at school concerts, community venues, and events.
The choir is directed by Mr. Randy Leazenby whose teaching experience of 41 years, covers all grade levels for all ensembles. Mr. Leazenby graduated from the world renown Indiana University Jacobs School of Music. Mr. Leazenby's studied Under Walter Hornibrook (conducting), D. Ralph Appleman, PHD (voice), Dr. Robby Greenly (conducting), Margaret Hillis (conducting), Fredrick Ebbs (conducting), Ray Cramer (conductiong), Steven Pratt (conducting), David Aiken (voice), Roy Samuleson (voice), Walter Cassel (voice), Dr. Robert Reifsnyder (Trombone), Prof. Van Haney (Trombone), which includes instrumental and choral conducting as well as voice and trombone with a focus on music education.
