Dear families,
Welcome to 5th grade! My name is Mrs. White and I am SO excited to be your child's teacher this year. This website will have some basic information about me, our classroom, and what you can expect in fifth grade.
This year is going to be full of learning, growth, and fun! I am passionate about creating positive learning experiences for all of my students. We are going to read TONS of books. We are going to become next level mathematicians. We are going to be scientists and engineers in the lab. We are going to look at history through a critical lens. I cannot wait for our fifth grade journey together!

ABOUT MRS. WHITE
I am originally from West Lafayette and had the privilege of attending Purdue University and the Purdue Honors College. Boiler up! I graduated with a degree in Elementary Education with a concentration in Reading and a minor in Global Studies. While at Purdue I studied abroad, completed an original research project on the benefits of classroom libraries (hence why we have SO MANY BOOKS!), and worked with the ACCESS engineering team to bring engineering design opportunities to K-6 students. I feel so lucky to get to continue to call West Lafayette, and now WLIS, my home for the fourth year in a row.
This past summer was a busy one for me! My wife, Kirsten, and I spent a lot of time renovating our house together. We also have two cats named Rain and Theo. Ms. Spears (our lovely art teacher) and I also went on a MAGICAL trip to Disney World. I love to spend my free time sourdough baking! I am looking forward to getting to know each other more throughout the year.
My wife and I are also SO excited to welcome our first baby into the world at the end of this year.
I am looking forward to our year together. Fifth grade is the BEST grade!
This is my wife, Kirsten, and I. She is also from West Lafayette and works at our courthouse.
Rain and Theo
One of the places my family went this summer was Holiday World. We go every summer for about a week and also camp there! This is Kirsten and I with Lileigh, Kirsten's little sister.
