Looking Ahead to Cohort 2 for 2023 - 24
What Participants from Cohort 1 Had to Say (2022 - 23)
What are your key take aways from this cohort?
I can not wait to share with not only my students, but my entire district what I have learned in this experience.
Universal theme parks have a wealth of things for all teachers to use in the classroom to make content more fun and relatable for students.
Since this will be my second-year teaching in 7th grade science, the cohort was beneficial in helping me network with other teachers. It also gave me insight on lessons that I will be able to use this upcoming school year (hydroelectricity).
1) I can take the large scale ideas and make it on a smaller scale that can be used in the classroom. 2) Working with others is alot better than alone - flush out so many ideas or new ideas are sparked through discussion
Scale/Proportion are key concepts for STEM, STEM is important in everything, Arts and humanities can easily be thrown into the mix during STEM lessons.
The real-world experience allowed for learning connections to deeper learning. You leave wanting to know more.
Real life, engaging, fun, exciting lessons from real life theme park rides! Plus it was awesome to meet an engineer of one of the biggest coasters and hear his story. Stories like his keep me teaching. Even on the hard days.
Summarize Your Experience in One Sentence
This experience has been the most beneficial learning experience for me as an educator. All year has led up to this and it has truly lit a fire in me that I didn't know even existed. I'm so grateful for this opportunity
This group has given me the support, encouragement, and resources to help me as an educator to create more STEM type activities.
In this cohort, I was able to connect all the puzzle pieces and truly embrace the meaning behind being a STEM Teacher.
"Discovery is just the beginning of the pursuit of knowledge"
As I think of the role of educators to inspire and create life long learners. My quote would be to "Be Inquisitive & Stay Inspired" Learning is Universal
The cohort brought fun, collaboration, new ideas, validation in my abilities to write tasks, and an abundance of support, in which I am grateful.
An inspiring, once in a lifetime opportunity to bring learning of concepts into the classroom in a fun and engaging way that will grasp students interest to the point they may not even realize they are learning.
I am so thankful that I was given the opportunity to be included in the STEM cohort this school year. I have learned valuable real-world lessons as well as made friendships with other math/science teachers throughout our region.
My eyes was opened to see different things and be able to connect to other topics and work with fellow teachers to connect topics with our students.
