Ms. Jean Davis

Strings Teacher

This is Ms. Davis' fourth year teaching strings for WJUSD. She has been involved in music since starting piano lessons in the second grade and holds a degree in music education from CSU, Chico and did graduate study at CSU, Fullerton. She began her career at the high school level, teaching for one year at Valley High School in the Elk Grove Unified School District. She has 24 years experience teaching instrumental, vocal and classroom music for grades K-8 in private schools in Sacramento. Ms. Davis lives in Sacramento and is a violist in the Camellia Symphony.

Mr. Dave Johnson

Band Teacher

Mr. Johnson is a Woodland native who loved and learned music in the Woodland Joint Unified School District. His first career was working in music stores in the greater Sacramento area while teaching private music lessons and performing as a professional freelance musician on trumpet and trombone. He earned his Bachelor of Music degree from California State University, Sacramento and then his Master of Education degree from National University. He also earned his Teaching Credential through National University. This led him to teaching music in the Washington Unified School District and Napa Valley Unified School District. Mr. Johnson will be starting his seventh year of teaching music and his second year in Woodland. He still continues to perform as a professional musician with many types of musical groups and settings and likes to play golf when he can.

Weekly Schedule

Spring Lake Elementary will begin providing violin instruction to all 4th graders starting in the 2019-2020 school year.

Band and Advanced String instruction for 5th graders will begin in the 2020-2021 school year, followed by 6th grade instruction for the 2021-2022 school year.
