Layla Lavorico -- November 6th
The 100 is a teen drama sci-fi series that was inspired by the books written by Kass Morgan. While the show does not follow the books entirely, many of the characters and plots are similar. The 100 explores the lives of 100 delinquent teens who were sent from a space station, down to Earth. They were meant to see if the earth was survivable after a nuclear apocalypse. After arriving on the ground, they face many challenges throughout the seven seasons that they have to learn how to navigate.
Recently, many avid show watchers have been yearning for shows that bring back 2010 dystopian vibes. TV shows nowadays have been criticized for being “too modern” or “boring,” which is why The 100 is a perfect option for those who need a new show to binge. This show will keep you on the edge of your seat with the constant plot twists and new situations that the “Sky People” find themselves in.
Survival and the question of humanity is the main theme throughout the show. Every decision made, every action taken is all to ensure the survival and safety of everyone. But, with the mindset of survival comes the response of humankind. When does saving your own people give one the right to kill others? Who gets to play God and decide who lives and who dies? These are questions that are explored within this show.
With a unique storyline, and the great character development throughout the seasons, The 100 is a great show to start if you are looking for something new.
