Students at West Islip have an opportunity to acquire college and career skills related to Business. We have a plethora of courses including Virtual Enterprise, Accounting, Law, Financial Management, College Freshman Seminar, Marketing, Sports Management, Fashion Marketing, Microsoft Excel, Computer Essentials, Social Media Marketing, Entertainment Marketing, Wall Street, and Web Design. Our students also have an opportunity to acquire industry-recognized certifications in a variety of CTE fields while partnering with our district transition coordinator. Family & Consumer Sciences
Students at West Islip have an opportunity to acquire career and technical education skills. We have a variety of course offerings including Culinary Arts, Childhood Education, Fashion Design, and a Work Study internship.
Little Lions
The Family & Consumer Science Department at West Islip High School hosts the Little Lions Preschool (*note this is different from District Pre-K). The purpose of Little Lions is to provide a well-rounded educational experience for children to learn, grow and form friendships while affording an opportunity for high school students enrolled in child study classes to work directly with young children. This program is only for West Islip School District residents.
The program takes place from October through May on Tuesday, Wednesday, and Thursday mornings from 9:00 a.m. to 11:45 a.m. at West Islip High School.
