Syllabus

In English 8, students will explore literature and real-world topics through five major units: Short Stories & Literary Analysis, Refugee, A Raisin in the Sun, Courage, and Research. Students will strengthen their reading and writing skills by analyzing texts, gathering and citing evidence, developing thoughtful written responses, and completing a variety of essays and research-based assignments. Through discussions, presentations, collaborative activities, vocabulary and language study, and Socratic Seminars, students will learn to think critically, communicate effectively, and grow as confident, independent learners.
