The NYSSMA Solo and Ensemble Festival is a special, optional music experience in which students play a graded solo for an adjudicator (judge) to gain valuable feedback about their playing. The grades and comments students receive will possibly enhance their opportunities to participate in future area and statewide music festivals.
NYSSMA is scheduled to be held in person at West Islip High School on MONDAY, APRIL 20, 2026.

1 - Registration forms and payment must be submitted by FRIDAY, FEBRUARY 6, 2026.
2 - Paying on MySchoolBucks is for the performance fee NOT the sheet music (look for FAWESS as the teacher's name).
3 - Mrs. Fawess will provide the books needed for this festival (one for your child to perform with and one for the adjudicator). Both copies provided by Mrs. Fawess MUST be returned after your child’s performance.
4 - If your child is preparing their solo with a private instructor, you may need to purchase one or two copies of the book. Please check with your private instructor for the title of the book you need.
