BIO
Early Life
Dominique Wise grew up in the San Francisco Bay Area in Morgan Hill, CA. He attended high school at Bellarmine College Preparatory. Despite not making his varsity basketball team and only running track to stay active, several colleges still recruited him for basketball.
College
After his passion for basketball faded, he did not make the Hampton University basketball team, which he attended for a year. He decided he was done playing sports. After attending junior college as a regular student, he visited the University of Southern California. An athletic director approached him to try out for the University of Southern California national championship team despite never playing football. Once accepted, he tried out and made the team in his first year playing under Head Coach Pete Carroll. He was part of two USC teams that won two Pacific 10 conference championships and one Rose Bowl championship.
Recruiting
He later found success in recruiting college and professional athletes to a boxing program called All American Heavyweights, created by television producer Michael King (Oprah, Wheel of Fortune, Contender, etc.). In the role, he worked with world-class boxing trainers who trained Evander Holyfield and Mike Tyson. Through this experience, he shifted his focus to working with high school student-athletes. He has succeeded in helping several student-athletes achieve their dreams of playing sports in college.
Counseling Philosophy
Dominique Wise uses an individualized, comprehensive counseling approach to create a personal relationship with students to help develop their interests, talents, and personal goals so that they become positive, contributing community members of society.
