Odd Sock Day
As part of Anti Bullying Week we are taking part in odd sock Day. This is on Tuesday 12th November. Children come into school wearing their uniform but with odd socks on. These can be worn over the top of tights and trousers to show that it's okay to be different and to stand up against bullying and discrimination.
Child in Need
On the 15th November we are celebrating Children in Need. Children have requested a PJ day so that is the theme we are going with!
Children can come into school wearing their PJ's. Please remember they will be going outside etc so they will need to be warm enough.
If you are able to please can you donate £1 on the day.
Camping Residential (Year 3 and 4)
We're thrilled to announce an exciting opportunity for your child to embark on a mini-residential experience, designed to prepare them for the challenges and adventures that lie ahead in Year 5 and 6.
In partnership with the West View Project, a renowned outdoor learning specialist, we've organized a camping trip to Pybus Campsite in Kirkby-Stokesley. This three-day adventure will provide your child with valuable life skills and unforgettable memories.
The children are away for 1 night but the experience is over 3 days.
Day 1 (14th) – Children come to school as normal. Throughout the day they will be looking at their destination, working in small groups putting up tents, shopping for themselves with a budget and cooking food on an outdoor stove.
Day 2 (15th)– Children arrive in school and after registration etc will go on the bus. They will then head to Pybus Campsite (this is a Scout campsite), in Kirkby – Stokesley. Children will then use their skills from the previous days to set up their camp. Children will complete some outdoor activities and games as well as helping to cook their meal on an outdoor stove.
Day 3 (16th) – The children will continue to complete some outdoor games and activities before heading back to school. Children will arrive back to school at normal time, if not a little earlier.
Tents, stoves and food etc are provided in with the cost. All the children need to take are clothes and a sleeping bag!
This trip is heavily supervised by adults as your child’s safety and wellbeing is extremely important to us. As a school we are heavily subsiding this trip in the hope that many pupils will attend and benefit form from such an amazing experience and opportunity. The cost of the trip is £70.
To secure your child's place, please submit a non-refundable deposit of £25 in a sealed envelope labeled with your child's name and year group. The deadline is Friday, November 22nd. If the trip is oversubscribed, we will return the deposit.
Limited Places Available!
We encourage you to register your child early, as places are limited. If there are more interested participants than available spots, we will conduct a fair lottery to determine who can attend.
This residential experience offers a unique opportunity for your child to grow, learn, and have fun in a safe and supportive environment. We hope you'll consider allowing them to participate.
For further information or questions, please don't hesitate to contact Mrs Walton
Sporting Events
Over the past few weeks, several of our students have been involved in exciting sporting events. Some Year 5 and 6 children participated in a rugby skills festival leading up to the Women's Rugby World Cup, while others, including SEND students, enjoyed playing tag rugby. Additionally, a group of students represented our school at a KS2 Sportsability event, and Year 2 children had the opportunity to attend a multi-skills festival at the university. As always, our students had a fantastic time and demonstrated excellent sportsmanship.
Desperate plea
Dear Parents, we are reaching out to you as we are in desperate need of spare underwear and socks for our Early Years and infant children for the little accidents they sometimes have. If you have any that your child has outgrown or if you would like to donate some new underwear and socks we would be very grateful. Thankyou
Staffing Update
Mrs Watson is leaving us this half term to start her maternity leave. Good luck Mrs Watson, we will miss you but can't wait to meet your new addition to the family. Miss Ferry is joining our school afrer half term as a teacher and will be working across school to cover classes and support in Year 6.
Mrs Cole (teaching assistant) is currently supporting our children in Reception along side Miss Beaty and Mrs Winder.
Healthier Together
You are all invited to download the Healthier Together app from your usual
app store and/or access the website at the following link:
https://www.nenc-healthiertogether.nhs.uk/
This app is a great place to find accurate and trusted NHS healthcare advice in the North East. We all know getting hold of a doctor is difficult and sometimes you just need some advice and to know if they can attend school
School Uniform
This is a friendly reminder about our school uniform policy. Looking smart and feeling comfortable helps create a positive learning environment for all our students.
Here's a quick overview of the uniform:
Main Uniform: Black trousers/skirts, white polo tops, and purple jumpers or cardigans. Shoes/trainers should be plain black. Earrings are not permitted.
PE Kit: Plain black joggers/leggings, white polo tops/plain purple t-shirts, and trainers. Children can wear their school jumpers or a plain black hoodie with this.
Exciting news! We're launching a Hasting Hill Academy Hoodie specifically for PE days (plain black is still fine). We'll let you know as soon as it's available on the uniform website (link included below).
We understand that keeping track of uniform requirements can be challenging. Please don't hesitate to reach out if you have any questions or need assistance with uniform options.
Attendance
At Hasting Hill Academy, we believe that excellent attendance and punctuality are essential forvery child. Children should come to school every day and on time that school is open unless absolutely unavoidable. Promoting excellent attendance is the duty of everyone; parents/ carers, staff and pupils. Occasionally children can be reluctant to come to school, we would encourage parents to discuss this with the class teacher or our family support worker Miss Watts.
Regular attendance at school means that your child can make the most of their education and improve their chances in adult life. School can also help your child’s social skills such as making and developing friendships. A regular and punctual attendance pattern will help your child when they enter the world of work.
The link between attendance and attainment in school is clear. The more a pupil is in school the more they increase their opportunity to fulfil their potential.
Please use this link for NHS guidance on when a child should be absent, for how long plus additional advice for parents.

The Dfe have reported that there is a recognition that ‘more children may be absent from school due to symptoms of anxiety than before the pandemic. Worry and mild or moderate anxiety, whilst sometimes difficult emotions, can be a normal part of growing up for many children and young people. Being in school can often help alleviate the underlying issues. A prolonged period of absence is likely to heighten a child’s anxiety about attending in the future, rather than reduce it.’ If you feel that your child is struggling please contact Mrs Walton, Mrs Robson or Miss Watts
The law states that parents do not have a right to take their child out of school for a holiday during term time. Only in exceptional circumstances may a head teacher grant permission for leave.
Our whole school attendance attendance is currently 94% .The National level is 96%
We have over 28 children who have already missed 10% of school.
Please remember that fixed term penalty notices are in place for 5 days of unauthorised absences. Medical proof needs to be shared with school for it to be authorised.
You will receive a text every Friday with your child's attendance on. That is for the year to date.
If you need support with attendance please contact us so we can help.
