The goal of the program is to empower parents with the knowledge and tools they need to support their students effectively. Weslaco High School hosts a College Decision Day yearly. On this day, high school seniors who applied and were accepted into one or more colleges confirm their enrollment with the school of their choice.
Military signings play a crucial role in recognizing the commitment of students who choose to serve their country, highlighting their achievements and aspirations. These ceremonies not only celebrate individual choices but also foster a sense of pride within the community. Collaboration with local organizations enhances these events, providing support and resources for students and their families. This partnership strengthens community ties and encourages a culture of respect and appreciation for those who serve, creating a supportive environment that benefits both the students and the community as a whole.
Social-emotional learning (SEL) for staff is vital for creating a positive and effective educational environment. By prioritizing SEL, educators and staff can develop stronger interpersonal skills, enhance their emotional awareness, and improve their resilience. This not only supports their well-being but also positively impacts their interactions with students, fostering a more supportive and empathetic school culture. When staff model SEL principles, they create a safe space for students to express themselves, leading to better academic outcomes and healthier relationships. Ultimately, investing in the social-emotional growth of staff contributes to a thriving school community where everyone can succeed.
