Welcome,

My name is Rachel Yanez, and I am originally from the Pacific Northwest. I moved to the Rio Grande Valley to attend the University of Texas Pan American where I graduated with my Bachelor of Arts in English. Soon after, I began teaching 7th Grade at Dr. Armando Cuellar Middle School. After eighteen years, I still enjoy the excitement and challenge of working with middle school students. This year I am personally taking on the challenge of using "flipped learning" in my once traditional classroom. I aim to use more of my classroom time to guide students to learn both independently and collaboratively as they apply the concepts introduced in class. I look forward to the 2021-2022 Academic Year, during which I will push my students to take ownership of their learning and their success. I hope to help each student find the leader within themselves and instill in them the desire to seek knowledge beyond their classroom walls.
