Ramiro Gomez

Good day fellow friends and classmates. My name is Ramiro Gomez and I am a 2021 Senior Panther. I am honored to accept an invitation to possibly run and represent our school over homecoming during this crazy year. I'm the son of my parents Zulema and Ramiro Gomez with 3 younger siblings (Cesar, Mateo and Maya Gomez). I am a proud member of the Weslaco High School Varsity Tennis Team and currently the rank 1 followed by team captain, so experience and leadership comes naturally for me. A leader is something that is earned and not given. I have learned from various scenarios whether I am on and off the court. As a result, quick thinking has become a beneficial factor in my life. For years, I have been striving to help my community to make it as great as can be. I have also faced many obstacles throughout my senior year. I am going to reveal something that is kept personal to me. 4 months ago I was tested for Covid and came out positive! I then became very ill very quickly and I'm not going to lie to you all... I was terrified! I have even struggled to get up from my bed because of the aching that occured. But, I have learned something from that terrible experience, and that is faith. I had faith in myself and my god that I will get better and be in front of you all today. I had faith in my family that they are safe and Covid free. And I had faith in myself that I would make it out of this safely and harmlessly. When I got the negative test about 1 month later I was overjoyed because I knew that I won. As we all know, this year has been one heck of a ride and no one knows what will come of us next year. But I can tell you this, we can get through this together, and I will be glad to represent our school for this 2020-2021 Homecoming School Year. Thank you!
