Weslaco High School was proudly represented at the Spring 2026 Region 1 CCMR Conference by Cornel Cuevas, JROTC Program Instructor, and Cari Salinas, CCMR Specialist.

Cornel Cuevas led the presentation, highlighting the intentional work WHS is doing to promote military exploration, readiness, and student interest. Together with Cari Salinas, they shared how WHS supports students pursuing military pathways, including:

• Military Signing Day celebrations honoring our enlistees

• Camp Zephyr leadership camps to develop character and leadership skills

• Strategic ASVAB testing to help students explore career options and qualify for service

• Collaboration between JROTC and counseling to ensure students are informed and prepared

We are proud to highlight Cornel Cuevas’s leadership and Cari Salinas’s CCMR expertise, both instrumental in preparing WHS students for success in the military.
