This month is dedicated to honoring the strength, resilience, and sacrifices of children in military families. Our students may not wear a uniform, but they serve in their own unique way—standing beside their parents, adapting to change, and showing incredible courage through the challenges of military life.
Here at Dr. R. E. Margo Elementary we believe it is important to take the time to recognize and appreciate these remarkable students. Their experiences may include frequent relocations, long separations from a loved one, and the uncertainty that comes with military life. Yet, through it all, they demonstrate incredible perseverance, adaptability, and heart.
At Dr. R E. Margo, we want to show our gratitude—not only to our military children but also to their families. Your service and sacrifices do not go unnoticed, and we thank you for all that you do. To our military students— You are strong, you are brave, and you are an important part of our school community. We celebrate you, we appreciate you, and we are proud of you. We are honored to celebrate you every day. To our military families, your love, dedication, and unwavering support are the foundation of your child’s strength, and for that, we thank you.
City of Weslaco Mayor Adrian Gonzalez read the proclamation to conclude the program. “I call on all citizens, businesses, organizations to join me in honoring and supporting military-connected children,” he said. “You guys are amazing and your parents are the true heroes.”

Honors Military Kids with Special Parade
Dr. R.E. Margo Elementary held a heartfelt parade honoring military-connected children and their families. In recognition of the Month of the Military Child, students, staff, and families came together to celebrate the strength and resilience of children whose parents serve in the armed forces. Military children and their parents proudly walked the decorated halls of the school, cheered on by classmates and teachers waving flags and banners. The event served as a powerful reminder of the school's commitment to supporting military families and building a community of appreciation and respect.
