When and how can I use my tokens?
You can purchase tokens on Wednesdays and Saturdays. You can use tokens on all market days (Wednesdays, Thursdays, and Saturdays).
If you purchase tokens with your credit or debit card, you may spend them on anything!
If you purchase tokens with your SNAP (FoodShare) card, you can buy anything at the market that you would expect to be able to buy at the grocery store. Enjoy all the fruits, vegetables, meats, eggs, cheese, and bread you want! Flowers and meal-prepared foods are off-limits.
**Did you know that you can buy food producing plants with your FoodShare?! This might include tomato plants, pepper plants, herb plants, etc. The Eau Claire Downtown Farmers Market features vendors who sell food producing plants in the spring. Making this purchase once in the spring gives you food all summer long!
Can I get change for my tokens or exchange them for cash?
Due to federal SNAP rules, we cannot give cash back for tokens. Each token is worth exactly $1.00.
If your total has change: We recommend using tokens for the dollar amount and your own coins for the cents (e.g., for a $2.50 item, use 2 tokens and 50¢).
If you only use tokens: You will forfeit any remaining change.
Can I use cash to buy tokens?
No, tokens can only be purchased with a SNAP/credit/debit card.
Can I use my tokens at other markets or at the grocery store?
No. Tokens you purchase at the Eau Claire Downtown Farmers Market can only be spent there.
When can I use my tokens?
You can use your tokens on Wednesdays, Thursdays, and Saturdays. Didn’t use your tokens before the end of the market season? They never expire so save them to use next year.
How many tokens can I buy?
You can buy as many tokens as you want.
If purchasing tokens with your SNAP card, the market will match up to $20 with fruit and vegetable vouchers.
