I'm a fifth-year PhD student in the Department of Mathematics at the University of Wisconsin–Madison. My PhD advisor is Prof. Nan Chen.
My research lies at the intersection of applied and computational mathematics, particularly in the development and utilisation of frameworks for the study of complex stochastic dynamical systems that arise in atmospheric, oceanic and climate science, nonlinear geophysics, and fluid mechanics. My work typically involves tools from statistics and probability, such as information theory, data assimilation, uncertainty quantification, machine and deep learning, and optimisation.
I hold an MA in Mathematics from the University of Wisconsin–Madison and a BSc in Mathematics and Statistics with a focus on Applied Mathematics from the University of Cyprus.
This site primarily serves as a hub for my current projects, publications, CV, and teaching materials, as well as a blog where I will occasionally, time permitting, post interesting tidbits and results of varying complexity, both within and beyond my research area. I may also post essays on some of my other interests, for when I truly have no regard for my free time, like Greek music (έντεχνο and λαϊκό) and competitive Pokémon.
If you need to contact me, please use my institutional email: mandreou@wisc.edu.
You can also find me at: GitHub, LinkedIn, ResearchGate, Google Scholar, ORCID, SciProfiles and X.
In this YouTube video I present a brief and jargon-free exposition to Assimilative Causal Inference using animations created with ManimCE.
