Welcome!

Exploring Practices in the Classroom (EPIC) is a learning community designed for graduate student instructors while they teach. This site offers resources to support the adaptation and facilitation of the EPIC learning community model within various institutional and disciplinary contexts.

The goal of the EPIC learning community is to create a space where graduate student instructors can explore pedagogical research, discuss teaching with their peers, and learn techniques to support their instruction. These learning communities pair facilitated discussion of pedagogical topics with open space for the participants to consider just-in-time teaching challenges and successes.

This website is designed to share both the programmatic structure and facilitation materials for EPIC. Our intent was to create a flexible program that could be easily adapted by facilitators within a wide array of disciplines and institutions. We encourage you to consider how you might use the modular nature of the materials to build a learning community that best serves the needs of your students, instructors, and institution.
