The STELLAR C-CAP Project

The Stellar C-Cap Project looks at how elevated blood lead levels may be a potential contributor to court involvement later in life.

Background

In addition to the disparities in incarceration, Wisconsin also has pronounced disparities of elevated blood lead levels (BLLs) across racial/ethnic groups. What is not known, however, is whether exposures to chemical stressors among racial/ethnic minority children in Wisconsin are related to later disparities in court involvement. The rationale for this study is that it will provide a means of monitoring associations between BLL and court involvement and provide the foundation for a developing research program aimed at reducing the childhood risks associated with court involvement in adulthood.
