The Tri-County Speaking and Demonstration Contest provides 4-H youth with an opportunity to develop important communication skills, share their interests, and grow their confidence in a supportive environment. Open to eligible 4-H members, including Cloverbuds, the event encourages youth to explore topics they enjoy and share their knowledge with others.

Public speaking and demonstrations are an important part of the 4-H experience. Through researching, planning, and presenting, youth strengthen skills in communication, organization, leadership, and creative expression. Participants may present individually or with a partner while learning how to effectively connect with an audience.

Demonstrations allow youth to combine speaking with visual aids as they teach a skill, explain an activity, or share information in an engaging way. These experiences help members practice real-world skills that support success in school, careers, and everyday life.

Beyond the presentation itself, the contest celebrates youth voice and learning. Members have the opportunity to inspire others, participate in a positive learning environment, and receive recognition for their efforts.

Whether practiced during club meetings, at home, or in other 4-H settings, public speaking skills grow with experience. The Tri-County Speaking and Demonstration Contest is a chance for youth to showcase what they have learned, challenge themselves, and celebrate their accomplishments.
