The A2 Upgrade: In A1, you just say who you are. In A2, you must be able to talk about your past (where you grew up, your old school, your childhood hobbies) using the passé composé and imparfait.
Typical task: Introducing yourself and telling the story of how you learned French.

The A2 Upgrade: You describe your current tasks, your work hours, your career path, and simple job searches.
Typical task: Writing a short email applying for a job or describing a typical day at your office to a colleague.

The A2 Upgrade: Instead of just asking for a price, you ask for different sizes, colors, compare prices, or politely complain if an item has a defect.

The A2 Upgrade: You describe your apartment in detail, talk about furniture, explain household chores, or talk about moving to a new home.
