Participating in Crossroads is a fantastic opportunity for students to get authentic, hands on service experience. Students will help with the operational running of the centre as well as taking part in simulations that will help students better understand global issues.  As the Chinese proverb puts it: ‘I hear and I forget. I see and I remember. I do and I understand.’ 

Please note that Crossroads is closed on Mondays so this trip will run Tuesday-Friday.

From Monday to Thursday, you will dive deep into a new genre each day—mastering K-Pop, getting sassy with Jazz Funk, dropping beats with Hip-Hop, and performing dramatically with Musical Theatre. Each session is packed with everything you need, starting with warm-ups and rhythm basics, progressing through complex choreography, advanced formation work, and ending with high-energy freestyle jams and essential conditioning. The whole experience culminates on Friday with comprehensive rehearsals and the thrilling Showcase, where you'll perform all your favorite routines and celebrate your incredible progress! 

Prepare to become a life-saver with an action-packed Emergency Rescuer program that transforms you into a confident first responder. This isn’t just a typical classroom course; it’s a fun, social, and active experience where you’ll gain internationally recognized certifications in CPR, AED, and First Aid, alongside rare skills like emergency oxygen administration. Across five days, you will progress from bite-sized digital learning to hands-on workshops mastering every skill at your own pace. The week culminates in high-energy "real life" emergency simulations across the school grounds, where you’ll learn to stay calm under pressure, lead a team, and handle chaotic situations with the "Care with Confidence" philosophy. By the end of this course, you won’t just have a certificate for your CV—you’ll have the life-saving skills and maturity to step up when it matters most.

Ever wondered what the Wilson or Hong Kong trails are? Ever seen the view of Hong Kong from one of its highest peaks? Ever walked the Dragon’s Back? Find out more about your own backyard and how green it really is.

Get outdoors and experience the real gems of Hong Kong. Each day explore a different hike along the many trails this wonderful land has to offer. The hikes will begin gently and become progressively more challenging as you get accustomed to the walks. We will be meeting at different starting points each day, ready to hit the trails.

IMPORTANT NOTE:

Packed lunches are needed as well as a charged up Octopus Card to use the public transport as students need to travel independently to and from hike meeting and finishing locations. Please note that the timings for each day will vary depending on the hike. A detailed itinerary will be shared with you nearer the time.

The Hong Kong Award for Young People program includes a series of outdoor adventure activities for students. Participants will first complete a 2 day hike and camping trip from Monday to Tuesday to practice their outdoor skills. They will then attend an in-school training day on Wednesday focused on teamwork, communication and planning. Next, students will embark on another 2 day hike and camp from Thursday to Friday to put their new skills into practice working together as a team in the wilderness. The program aims to develop students' self-reliance, leadership abilities, social skills and environmental awareness through hands-on expedition experience. 

Important information: To participate in HKAYP, you must also commit to HKAYP CAS in term 1 and term 2. Students in Year 10 and above are eligible for the Bronze Award and students in Year 12 and above are eligible for the Silver Award.

Hong Kong Ultimate Fitness is back! Enjoy completing a range of adventurous fitness challenges and activities all around the territory. From exploring HK's running trails, working with elite fitness trainers and yoga instructors in their private, well equipped facilities and exploring new parts of Hong Kong, this trip has it all. 

Please note that the meeting point will vary each day and your child will need to independently take public transport. 

Students will join a thriving jewellery community for a week and learn about jewellery making from a beginner level, or expand their skills if they have prior experience. Students will develop techniques used by professionals and discover their unique creativity. Students will create a piece of silver jewellery and a collection of copper jewellery.

We are delighted to offer a Martial Arts masterclass, where students will develop their confidence, leadership and physical wellbeing through a structured week of multi-disciplinary martial arts training. 

The course will take place in a professional studio with experienced and professional instructors. Students will develop their skills in western boxing, taekwondo, kickboxing, muay thai, Korean jiu jitsu and fencing.

Led by Georgina from Image Box Photography, the week will consist of understanding where influences come from, how ideas form and how photographers get to the final image. The students will start to create their own stories and bodies of work through the lens, eventually working toward a final piece to display and discuss. You will see the students research and experiment with photography, creativity and find  influences, unfolding through a sketch book of ideas.

The course will have support booklets to refer to throughout and at later dates when the student wants to strengthen their new found skill.

Technical knowledge of the cameras working will cover shutter speed, iso, aperture, light metering, lenses and how shape, colour, mood, story and relevance of subjects create images. The workshop will cover the main elements of photography needed to gain the knowledge of a photographers working world, from ideas and influences to technical knowledge, to discussions of each other’s work, through to framing their own piece and presenting it at an exhibition.

During this activity, students will be based at the Sunroom Studio in Peng Chau and learn how to use the wheel. You will learn how to work with clay and then start to mould  your creations. Every day you will take the ferry to beautiful Peng Chau and work alongside others in a beautiful rural setting. At the end of the week you will fire your creations to be able to keep them forever. Please note, this course runs from 9-3pm each day apart from Friday which finishes at 1.30pm.

Get ready for an unforgettable adventure supporting the vibrant animal community of Hong Kong! Dive into hands-on activities that include dog walking, laundry, and cleaning the dogs' enclosures—all while helping the furry residents of the Centre. You’ll be a vital part of their daily care and upkeep!

Led by the team at Australasia Sports, this year's sports camp will be based exclusively at the Hong Kong Football Club. With its world class facilities and professional coaches, students will enjoy participating in up to 15 different sports, teambuilding activities as well as health and nutrition workshops. Lunch is included in the price.

Have you ever tried your hand at wakeboarding? Love adventure? Then this is the trip for you! Students will participate in a range of watersports activities including SUP, kayaking, surfing, dragon boating and wakeboarding. On the final day, students will also give back to the local community by participating in a beach clean. This is a fun opportunity to try new activities with friends.

Don't know your bechamel from your ragu? This could be the activity for you. Come and learn some new recipes and develop the skills to cook competently for your friends and family. Working with different people throughout the week, learn some classic recipes and how to put your own spin on them. An exciting opportunity to build your skills and your cookery repertoire. This activity is led by WIS staff and is based in the food technology classrooms.

This free Horizons Week trip is designed to get you out and about, enjoying the beautiful urban walks Hong Kong has to offer. You will make your way to school as normal where you will meet the group then you will enjoy a different walking route each day. This trip will blend urban hikes with cultural experiences, photographic challenges and wildlife spotting. 

The itinerary is TBC. Students will make their way to school as normal in the morning. They will be dismissed from the end point which will be near public transport networks. Note that hikes will finish at different times each day and the anticipated finished time is likely to be earlier than the school day. It is anticipated that the Friday will be spent in school, creating content, sharing their achievements and experiences throughout the week.

Participating in Year 7 camp as a student camp leader is guaranteed to be a memorable experience as well as a valuable opportunity to develop leadership skills. 

Students will be allocated a group of students to work with and will support The Hutong and WIS staff in facilitating a fantastic experience for our Year 7 students. Being a Year 7 camp leader is a great responsibility as you will be a role model for our youngest students. 

This role is suited to energetic, organised and enthusiastic students who would like some leadership responsibility. Students will need to submit a short application to express their interest in this role.
