Water & Rock Outdoor Adventure with Asia Adventure Sport -This is a mask-off activity

Physical challenge and Adventure

This week-long activity will feature activities such as Coasteering, Kayaking, Canyoning and Water filtration, raft building, plus orienteering and team activities. You will work as a team as you embrace the challenges and expeditions put in front of you. Team work will be of the essence in this truly amazing outdoor experience.

Ultimate Fitness and Coffee Adventure -This is a mask off activity

Cost: HK$600 per student

Latte Anyone?

Hong Kong Ultimate Fitness & Coffee Adventure is back! A journey around Hong Kong & Kowloon island completing a range of adventurous fitness challenges and activities whilst exploring the specialised coffee shops around the territory. From running TST promenade to beach games on Shek O beach whilst comparing a flat white to a Latte this experience has it all!

You must be able to jog 3km to join this activity

Martial Arts -This is a mask-off activity.***Participants of this activity MUST BE fully vaccinated as required by the HK Vaccine Pass.

Learn with professionals

Ever wonder if you would be interested in a Martial Art? Here is the perfect opportunity to try out a few. Work on some boxing skills to start your week off, arms feeling heavy, that's ok as we move onto Taekwondo and use our legs. Ever tried Muay Thai? Now's your chance as we move onto day 3 and finishing the week off with some Judo. Each day you will have a chance for a light sparring session to test out the skills learned.

Rowing and Sailing -This is a mask-off activity, however to enter the premises you would need to be fully vaccinated'

Cost: HK$4,830 per student

No previous experience is required, however, students should be able to swim 50 meter without a swimming aid.

Middle Island, Deep Water Bay

Hong Kong is full to the brim with water based full on action. It offers an excellent, safe, training environment as well as picturesque surroundings for a wide variety of watersports. Students will spend the week honing their rowing and sailing skills at the prestigious Royal Hong Kong Yacht Club on Middle Island. Instructors’ fee, quality instruction, hire of boats, all safety equipment, transfers from WIS to RHKYC each day and a delicious lunch each day are all included in this action packed week.

Mountain Biking -This is a mask-off activity

Learn new skills

Our thrilling five day program takes young riders on a comprehensive cycle training journey from basic bike handling skills of the Level 1 UK Bikeability Course to advanced MTB skills in the latter part of the week.

Enjoy Lantau

The week will be both physically and mentally challenging at times as well as immense fun! Students must be able to competently ride a bike on two wheels unassisted.

Lantau Trails in a Week -This is a mask-off activity

Cost: HK$350 per student (Students travel independently to some start and finish locations therefore need to have money/octopus for ferries and buses.)

Beautiful Lantau

The Lantau trail is one of Hong Kong's most famous hikes, a 70km loop beginning and ending in Mui Wo. The trail is split into twelve sections, the first half of which will see you climb Sunset Peak and Lantau Peak, Hong Kong’s second and third highest mountains and walk along mountain ridges before dropping down to the coast. The second half is much easier, with some particularly beautiful coastal views and traditional rural villages following luscious long beaches before your final ascent over Tai Ngau Wu and returning to Mui Wo.

For golfers with experience on a golf course. Play a round of golf on the Kau Sai Chau Public Golf Club courses in Hong Kong every day during Horizons Week. This week is an opportunity to really improve your technique as well as develop your patience, resilience and focus; attributes which are key to a successful life beyond West Island. Hong Kong is blessed with the climate and the courses which will make for a fantastic week.

Stand Up Paddle Board Adventure -This is a mask-off activity

Cost: HK$4,830 per student

Want unique and meaningful challenges?

Our team of professional instructors will guide participants to the Sai Kung marine area using SUP (Stand Up Paddle Board), teach them how to use the SUP properly and safely, explore the “Hong Kong UNESCO Global Geopark“ and other unique landscapes, as well as improve their awareness of ocean conservation and environmental sustainability. Throughout the camp, youths will also have many opportunities to interact with other participants, develop lifelong social skills, build confidence and improve their personal development. Join this activity now if you are looking for a fun and challenging week!

Horse Riding At Lo Wu Stables --This is a mask-off activity, however to enter the premises you would need to be fully vaccinated'

For new riders, learn the basic skills needed to handle and ride horses with confidence in a fun friendly atmosphere. You can learn how to groom, lead and care for your horse developing a firm bond with these incredible animals. You will also learn to ride them, with a chance to show off your newly learnt skills at the end of the week! For those more experienced, you will gain further skills and knowledge in both horse care and riding. You will have the chance to develop your knowledge on how to care for a competition horse; you will also get the chance to develop your flatwork and jumping techniques to a higher level. Show these off at our end of week competition!

Are you a Budding Author?

Ever dreamed of publishing a book? Join Elephant Community Press's creative writing and book publishing workshop during Horizons Week to study a particular genre of story, and then plan and write your own to be published in an anthology with other students. Students will learn to draft, revise and edit a story like real authors do, and the final books (published in Jan 2023) will be sold to raise funds to support a charity and also go into circulation in the Hong Kong Public Libraries.

Discover India in Hong Kong - This is a mask-off activity, however to enter some premises you would need to be fully vaccinated'

India and Hong Kong have been trading with each other since the middle of the 19th century; relations between the two countries have always been warm and cordial. Hong Kong has for long been home to a large Indian community, many of who arrived here more than a century and half ago. See how their influence has shaped the culture of Hong Kong by experiencing Indian cooking, Henna, Music, Dance as well as enjoying some culinary delights throughout the week.

An opportunity to learn some valuable cooking skills with a menu that suits university life that you can take forward and impress your future housemates with. You will learn a range of delicious recipes, taste them and take some home. You will also cook some products to deliver to some local NGOs.


Textile Exploration Week -This is a mask-on activity, school based

Cost: HK$4,050 per student

This is a great course if you are interested in exploring new materials and equipment to make them come to life!


Learn new skills

This class is ideal for beginners who are interested in learning the basics of Macrame, embroidery, exploring unconventional surfaces, tapestry weaving and jewellery making. This multi-medium crafting class offers a number of things to do:

Hollywood Hong Kong -This is a mask-on activity, school based and around HK

Cost: HK$4,980 per student

Film Making

Students in Hong Kong may not realize this, but our city’s landscape has inspired numerous filmmakers from around the world, featuring often in Hollywood blockbusters like Dr. Strange, Godzilla vs. Kong, and The Dark Knight. Students will be challenged to identify and race each other to a shooting location featured in an iconic movie shot in Hong Kong, and produce an original short film at the same location over 5 days. They will be guided by experienced filmmakers from Babel Film Workshop, and learn about the professional filmmaking process to create their short films based on creative prompts.

Baking Maniac - This is a mask-on activity and students must be fully vaccinated

Students will spend the week Baking, frosting, glazing, decorating and understanding all there is about the intricate art of cake making and decorating.

Coding with BSD -This is a mask-on activity, school based

Coding - Code the Future with Artificial Intelligence

There is no better time to start learning the inner workings of how AI functions and powers the world around us.Students will learn about the design and programming behind modern digital assistant softwares like Alexa, Siri, and Cortana and explore the technology powering in-car navigation. Students will use Machine Learning and code to develop and train their own AI personality that can answer questions, complete requests, and chat about topics of their choice.

Coding - Programming: Building An E-Commerce Website

In this course, students will gain confidence in CSS and JavaScript fundamentals. They will apply their learning to ultimately create a prototype of an e-commerce website using the BSD Database on BSD Online.

Coding - Code Your Own World with VR

From forests to Mars, students will bring their imaginations to life by coding their own virtual reality world.

Developed with HTML, CSS, JavaScript and A-Frame, they will code and add their own customized textures, elements and interactions to complete their realistic simulated 3D environments.

Diwali Dance Show -This is a mask-on activity, school based

Cost: HK$250 per student

Diwali celebrations have a longstanding tradition at WIS. After a Pandemic hiatus, this year Horizon's week gives performers a chance to rehearse and create a show worthy of Bollywood itself.


Enjoy learning Indian dances and being part of this iconic show throughout the week. There will be a public performance in the Auditorium at the end of Horizon's week.

Amazing architecture

“What is Hong Kong and what does it mean to be a Hong Konger? Fall back in love with Hong Kong by joining us to explore what make Asia World City so special. We will travel to the beating heart and far corners of Hong Kong, explore the most iconic places and discover how they continue to define our great city.” Students will move around Hong Kong on a study of Heritage buildings, iconic food, transport methods old and new, redevelopment and a visit to some of hong kong's finest buildings to hear from experts.

Photography -This is a mask-on activity (***Students can use their SLR's, Hybrids or phone cameras.) School based and around HK

Cost: HK$3,240 per student

Students will end with an impressive physical and virtual exhibition, that they will present to viewers, emotionally and technically.


Are you the next Annie Liebovitz?

The week will consist of understanding where influences come from, how ideas form and how to get to the end image. Students will start to create their own stories and bodies of work through eventually working toward a final piece to display and discuss. You will research and experiment with photography, creativity and find influences, unfolding through a sketchbook of ideas.

The workshop will cover the main elements of photography; technical knowledge of the cameras working will cover shutter speed, iso, aperture, light metering, lenses and how shape, colour, mood, story and relevance of subjects create images.

Students will have time to learn and practice all these elements on school premises and through visits to unique places in Hong Kong. They will discover a new way of looking at the everyday and seek out interesting moments to capture.


Gourmet Cooking This is a mask-on activity and students must be fully vaccinated

Cost: HK$5,990 per student

Cook in style

In this practical course, students will visit the TownGas cooking center where they will learn how to cook many different cuisine across the week from Thai food, to Japanese cake making and Italian specialities. It will also feature a session on green and sustainable food. The students can take all of the meals cooked home with them.

Pottery This is a mask-on activity

Cost: HK$1,820 per student

Live the life of an artist

During this activity, you will visit the artist's studio and learn how to use the wheel.

Every day you will take the ferry to beautiful Peng Chau and work alongside others in a beautiful rural setting. At the end of the week you will fire your creations to be able to keep them forever.

SERVICE -The following options fall under the service strand of CAS

Jockey Club Sarah Roe School Service This is a mask-on activity and students must be fully vaccinated

Cost: HK$150 per student

Service

You will have the privilege of working at the Jockey Club Sarah Roe school all week. This is an eye opening experience as it gives a deeper understanding of the challenges some learners face each day. The collaborative work in the classroom directly contributes to the students’ journey on reaching their full potential. Jockey Club Sarah Roe School is an ESF school that provides an educational setting for students who have severe learning difficulties and range in age from 5 to 19. During the week, each participant will work alongside the class teacher, a team of Education Assistants and members of the therapy team as appropriate.

Cultural Immersion

Through cultural immersive activities and design thinking tools, students will get a solid appreciation of the culture of the communities they learn to serve. Enjoy cooking, dancing, drumming, visiting marginalised groups and helping out in welfare centers.


The Africa-Centered Innovative Service Learning program offers a unique opportunity to equip students with the necessary skills and attitude to tackle social issues in complex power dynamics and multi-cultural space. Through African cultural immersive activities and design thinking tools, students will get a solid appreciation of the culture of the communities they learn to serve. In many African societies, knowledge sharing has always been embedded in the community as education was traditionally not centralized nor institutionalized. This is the spirit of learning that is brought into the service learning program. In these activities students will be involved in interesting and exciting community based projects and use design thinking tools to advance these projects. In addition to enjoying exciting immersive cultural activities such as the african hair, cooking, drum, art and music workshops, etc. students will get a chance to work in teams and come up with innovative and sustainable solutions to address issues faced by both the African and the refugee communities in Hong Kong.

Crossroads - Global X-perience Service and Simulation Week This is a mask-on activity, and to enter some premises, students will need to be fully vaccinated'

Crossroads invites students to sign up for a fun, engaging, and meaningful ‘Service and Simulation’ week! Participating students will have a tangible impact on the lives of those in need, both in Hong Kong and around the world, through volunteering alongside the Crossroads team at their site in Tuen Mun. While there, participating students will also have a chance to participate in the Global X-perience program, allowing them insights into the lives of the people Crossroads serves, in a personal way, through simulated activities. Service and Leadership opportunity

Would you like to be a leader on the Year 7 or 8 Trip? This is a perfect opportunity for students looking to demonstrate Leadership skills. Throughout the week you will help to lead your own group of students, organising, supporting and helping them to navigate the various skills of the week.
