The owner of a farm has a water tank that is at the back of his property. Because we are still in a drought he wants to make it so that it will collect as much water as possible when it rains.
To build a device that will allow the tank to collect the most water possible when it rains.
The 'tank' will be represented by a 1.25 litre coke bottle (or something similar).
- You may make the device from any material that you can find, but preferably (free) recycled materials.
- The device must fit inside a closed 2 litre ice cream container when packed up. It can expand (or be assembled) to any size when opened.
- The collector must fit on the top of the bottle (you can use the thread of the bottle) but needs to be self supporting – you can’t hold it!
- The bottle and collector will be left out overnight (when it rains) and be judged the next day by measuring the amount of water collected.
- Alternatively each device will be tested by using a sprinkler on a garden hose for one minute. (Reuse your water! We are still in a drought.)
- Points will be awarded for each ml you collect in the ‘tank’.
- How well you have explained and demonstrated your collector in your flipgrid video.
