Assessments are critical to helping students and teachers guide student learning. Although all assessments were suspended in Spring 2020 when schools initially closed, assessments will be required during the 2020-2021 school year for both in-person and remote students. Fortunately, students can take some of these assessments at home with their assigned device.
Assessment results from a balanced assessment system provide the district, schools, teachers, students, and parents with information about student learning and help teachers plan next steps for instruction. A supportive home environment will make taking assessments even more beneficial for students.
Locate your laptop and charger before your test is scheduled to begin.
Set up your workspace on a table or a desk near an electrical outlet. Plug your charger into your device and the wall. (This way you won’t lose power while testing! 😊)
To help you focus, limit distractions such as music and/or other screens. You may even want to wear noise-cancelling headphones to help you concentrate.
Let family members know you will be taking a test and an approximate time you will be done. This can help family members plan other, less-distracting activities while you are testing.
Log into the Google Meets session sent to your winthropschools.org email on your laptop so you can be in contact with a proctor for test instructions and help with any issues during testing.
Direct links and log in information will be shared by the proctor in the meet session.
Your teacher will use your scores to help you learn. Please remind your parents and other family members that it is important for you to answer the questions on your own.
Give your best effort on every test!
Ensure student(s) are prepared for school activities each day by getting plenty of rest and eating nutritious meals.

Remind your student(s) to set up their laptop on a table or a desk near an electrical outlet and to plug in the device.
To help your student(s) focus, work with other family members to limit distractions such as music and/or other screens while your student(s) take tests and complete school activities/assignments.
Students will be asked to join a Google Meets session. Login information will be sent to their winthropschools.org email. Direct links and session information will be shared by the proctor in the meet session.
Most test results are used to guide student learning, so please resist the urge to give your student clues or the right answers.
Remind your student(s) to take their time and encourage them to give their very best effort!
