September:
Tuesday, 9/23: Family Involvement Team meeting (known as FIT), 6:00-7:00 p.m., All Learning Lab families are invited to join! We will review (and revise if necessary) Learning Lab Family Involvement Pamphlet, review program components, and review calendar of Family Involvement Activities.
October:
Monday, 10/20: Family Information Evening, 5:00—6:00, What is the Learning Lab? What is the Family Involvement Team? What are Family Involvement Events? What does WGS use to assess Literacy and Math? Get your questions answered.
To be announced: Gr. K-5 Parent/Teacher Conferences, with Classroom teachers and Title 1 staff, by individual appointment
November:
Monday, 11/17: Family Involvement Event: An Evening of Restful Reading! 5:30 –6:30 p.m. Join us for an evening of peaceful read-aloud. Phonemic Awareness strategies (K-2) and Comprehension strategies (3-5) will be modeled for you. We will provide a book for your family to bring home to add to your collection.
December:
Thursday, 12/11: Family Involvement Team 6:00-7:00 p.m., WGS Library: An Evening of Restful Reading! Family Involvement Event…. What worked? What didn’t work? How can we promote more involvement?
January, 2026:
Thursday, 1/22: Family Involvement Event: Family Math Night - PIZZA PIE 5:30-6:30, WGS Library and Cafeteria: Students will work with their families to partition their “mock pizza” into equal shares. This is fractions in action! Pizza and salad will be served for all family members.
February:
Thursday, 2/12: Family Involvement Team, 5:00-6:00 p.m., WGS Library: review of PIZZA PIE!, open agenda.
March:
Parent-Teacher Conferences with Title 1 staff, by individual appointment.
April:
Wednesday, 4/15, Family Involvement Event: Financial Fun, 7:30 a.m.-8:10 a.m., Come meet with a representative of FAME (Finance Authority of Maine). They will present information about saving for college and planning for your child’s future.
