Apps for

Students

Below you will find a brief description of the many online resources that we will be using here at the ATC to help facilitate our remote teaching and learning. Not every teacher will be using every app listed here.

Students should “Sign in with Google” on the following sites. Because they will already be signed into Google at the start of the day they should be able to get right in.

Google Classroom is a learning management system (LMS) available to schools with a G Suite for Education domain. Teachers can create an online classroom, invite students to the class then create and distribute assignments. Within the Google Classroom students and teachers can have conversations about the assignments and teachers can track the student's progress.

BrainPop is an animated educational site for kids. Their content includes movies, quizzes, games, and more covering topics in Science, Social Studies, ELA, Math, Arts & Music, Health, and Technology. All content is aligned to our state education standards.

Storyworks (4th & 5th)

Storyworks is a literary magazine published by Scholastic for students in grades 3 - 6. Each issue features fiction, nonfiction, poetry and a play. It is designed to support today's challenging ELA standards with authentic texts that help students in reading, writing, speaking and listening, and language domains.

We will be using LearnZillion to enhance our math instruction. LearnZillion is a website that provides teachers with a library of interactive math lessons, videos, quizzes, and assignments for students.

Educators nationwide use Flocabulary to help students master standards, build vocabulary and develop 21st-century skills.

Newsela is a website that has a variety of articles at five different reading levels. This means each article can be read by students with a range of reading abilities.

Students should sign in using their specific username and password or class code for the following sites. Your child's teacher provided them with their code or username/password at the start of the school year. Email his/her teacher if you don't have it.

Renaissance

Renaissance includes educational software and adaptive assessments. Accelerated Reader is a computer program that helps teachers manage and monitor children’s independent reading practice. Your child picks a book at his own level and reads it at his own pace. When finished, your child takes a short quiz on the computer. Star Assessments are short tests that provide teachers with learning data. Star tests are computer adaptive, which means they adjust to each answer your child provides. This helps teachers get the best data to help your child in the shortest amount of testing time

Freckle

Freckle is an online learning platform that allows students to practice Math and English Language Arts at their own level. Freckle continuously adapts to each student’s individual skills, so each student is getting the appropriate challenge, whether they’re working at, above, or below grade level.

Teachers may assign math practice and/or ELA practice. Students should focus on assignments from their teacher before moving onto other activities in Freckle.
