Collectively, these findings demonstrate that even a brief, community-based education intervention can meaningfully influence postpartum individuals’ confidence, awareness, and capacity for self-management in the context of pelvic floor dysfunction and nervous system regulation. Quantitative results highlight a baseline disconnect between cognitive understanding and embodied interoceptive awareness, while qualitative findings contextualize this gap through participants’ lived experiences of symptom burden, role strain, and fragmented healthcare support.
Importantly, the integration of both data sets suggests that education alone is a powerful first step, but is most effective when paired with strategies that intentionally build body-based awareness, attentional control, and self-regulation skills. Participants’ reported increases in self-awareness and self-advocacy further indicate that even short interventions may initiate meaningful shifts in how individuals interpret and respond to their symptoms.
Overall, these findings support the inclusion of accessible, interoception-informed education within postpartum care. Expanding such approaches has the potential to bridge current gaps in traditional healthcare, enhance functional outcomes, and promote more holistic, patient-centered recovery experiences.

Together, they illustrate a clear pathway of change: education builds foundational awareness, awareness enhances the ability to notice and interpret internal signals, regulation supports adaptive nervous system responses, and improved regulation translates into better functional engagement in daily roles and activities. This progression underscores why integrated, education-based interventions are essential for bridging current gaps in postpartum care and promoting meaningful, sustained improvements in well-being.

This study supports the value of accessible, education-based interventions within postpartum care as a feasible and impactful approach to improving patient outcomes. By enhancing awareness of the relationship between interoception, nervous system regulation, and pelvic floor function, individuals are better equipped to understand their symptoms within a mind–body framework. In addition, providing practical, accessible tools fosters improved self-regulation, greater confidence in symptom management, and increased capacity for self-advocacy. Collectively, these findings highlight the importance of integrating educational and body-based approaches into postpartum support to promote more holistic, patient-centered care and long-term functional well-being.
