We have a strong relationship with our community, via a variety of avenues. Our Parent STEM Steering Committee, along with our business partners have played an active role in the decision-making process surrounding our STE(A)M Initiative. We have devoted time during the past five years to keep our stakeholders informed of the changes taking place within our buildings, in addition to relying on expertise from them in their specific fields to help us make the wisest decisions from the choices available to us. Local businesses such as Alabama Power and 3M, among others, have graciously supplied us with classroom instruction, both in-person visits to classrooms, as well as financial resources to enhance our STEM supplies. The Winfield Park and Recreation staff have been an integral part of our success, providing locations for our Fall Festival and/or Spring Fling, as well as serving as an extended classroom in the area of the nature trail and the Luxapallila Creek. Students from both elementary and middle schools are able to take part in various activities at the Winfield Community center, such as pottery making. The Main Street Program, along with The Kemp Foundation, have graciously provided funds as well as the use of the Pastime Theatre and Civic Center for various school events, field trips, and functions, playing a vital role in the transition to the STEM integration process. Furthermore, the Winfield Police Department has participated in various projects and activities throughout Winfield City Schools STEM learning.
