For our CBL project, we decided to research what are the barriers to hygiene in homeless population in and around Los Angeles. One of the reasons we decided on this was because of a study done in 2023. In this study, about 260 unhoused people were interviewed who live on Skid Row. During these interviews, about 20% of people said that they only used hand sanitiser as a way to clean their hands.  Additionally,  researchers found that in the morning only 60% of shared sanitation stations were open, and at night there was limited access.  Having limited access to water and soap, made us realize for this project that homeless have limited resources.  The limits to these resources must include other hygene products that may not be readily available and transportable.  Lack of hygiene products can lead to getting diseases, loss of teeth, and bad body/oral hygiene. Additionally, another big problem is getting the products that works with them the most, in order to make it better it needs to be personalised for each person.
