Safe and Drug Free Schools

Please read the following announcement:

Our supervisory union is a recipient of federal funds. As such, we must assure that we will continue to provide a drug-free workplace by:

  • Publishing a statement notifying employees that the unlawful manufacture, distribution, dispensing, possession, or use of a controlled substance is prohibited in the grantee's workplace and specifying the actions that will be taken against employees for violations of such prohibition;
  • Establishing an ongoing drug-free awareness program to inform employees about
    • the dangers of drug abuse in the workplace;
    • the grantee's policy of maintaining a drug-free workplace;
    • any available drug counseling, rehabilitation, and employee assistance programs; and
    • the penalties that may be imposed upon employees for drug abuse violations occurring in the workplace.

Please also read your school's drug and alcohol policy for more specific information regarding the above topics. The policies are listed below.

Furthermore, all employees are eligible for support through the Employee and Family Assistance Program, EAP. EAP assistance can be accessed at www.freeassist.org or 1-800-287-2173.

Note: The WCSU Policy Committee, a sub-committee of our school boards, is currently reviewing all of our schools' policies regarding drugs and alcohol in the workplace. The policies are likely to be revised; your principal will inform you of any policy changes if and when they take place.
