To ensure optimal learning, we expect you to contribute nothing but your best in all of your WPS endeavors.
Respect for everyone and everything ensures a positive experience for all. For personal success, we insist that you are responsible for your social behavior and academic progress.
You are granted access to campus only if you are dressed properly and prepared with appropriate supplies and homework. Each evening, think “WIN” - What I Need to be successful, and prepare as such.
Expect to continue learning outside of class, as meaningful practice and inquiry are required.
Simply, we expect you to be positive and love to learn!
Arrive to each class on time prepared for class with supplies, laptop, Rocketbook, book, and homework.
Begin class by reviewing the agenda, submitting assignments, and recording your homework and events in your personal calendar. Then, complete the “Lakers, Look” task to prepare for the day’s lesson.
Should you be absent, it is your responsibility to retrieve the missed work. Refer to Canvas for agendas and assignments. You shall have the number of days equal to the number of days you were absent from school to complete and hand in make-up work for credit. Specific arrangements, which will be final, must be made with your teacher(s).
Late work is unacceptable, as it is a reflection of your personal responsibility. Stay timely so that you stay on target with your learning progression. Failure to adhere to deadlines results in grade deduction and as necessary, administrative referral/probationary status. Late assignments are subject to a 10% deduction in grade for every day up to day 3. After the 3 day grace period, the assignment becomes a zero.
After a quarter has ended, no additional work may be submitted for that grading quarter. Additionally, extra credit is not offered at WPS.
Mastery learning is the goal; thus, you will be asked to complete assessment corrections and refinements to learn from your mistakes and compile professional products to your student portfolios.
All discipline infractions, including dress violations and tardies, are reported on your student record and referred to the Dean of Students.
Points determine your grades for each class, with point value based on significance of assignment. Although not every assignment is graded, everything you do and learn contributes to your overall acquisition of knowledge.
Your grades are officially reported on your Report Card at the end of each quarter
Semester & Final Assessments are added to the end of Q2 & Q4 overall average
You are expected to track your grade using Canvas and/or iSams so you’re aware of your academic standing at all times.
We hope you will focus on the learning, rather than the grade. Middle School is the time to own your learning, make mistakes, and develop yourself as a learner and person.
