Acceptable Technology Usage
& Tech Tips
In order to maintain safe usage, students are expected to follow the district's Acceptable Use Policy. This includes information about caring for and using the technology. Some important highlights of this policy include:
Students must be logged in with their WPS Google accounts to access Google Classroom. Students should not be logged into personal accounts while at school. This includes fifth grade BYODevices.
Teachers will instruct students which Extensions should be added. No extensions should be added otherwise.
Students should carry Chromebooks with two hands. Additionally, devices should always be closed when in transit.
Use clean hands. Devices should be kept away from food, water, paint, etc. and should be kept off the floor.
Students should only share passwords with trusted adults.
Extra Tips:
Daily powering down and restarting allows for updates, including security and performance enhancements.
Close unused tabs. Too many open tabs will slow down your device.
Devices can be cleaned with alcohol wipes.
If students have their email and password, they can access their Google Workspace (Drive, Docs, Slides, Classroom, Sheets, Jamboard) at home. We recommend opening a Guest window on your preferred browser if using a shared device.
