This week, our whole-school assembly focused on the most important lesson of all: Acts of Kindness.
In a world that can sometimes feel fast-paced and challenging, taking the time to demonstrate genuine care for one another is at the very core of our school’s ethos. We explored what it means to be a truly responsible and supportive member of our community—from helping a friend with a tricky piece of work to showing empathy for cultures different from our own.
As one of our core values states: "Together, we learn, grow and dream." This is not just a nice phrase; it's a living promise demonstrated every day through the small, yet powerful, acts of kindness our pupils show. Whether it’s sharing a smile, noticing someone sitting alone, or working together to support our friends at Njoro DEB Primary School in Kenya, our children are learning that their actions matter.
We were especially proud this week to share examples of how our pupils are already excellent citizens—a quality recently highlighted by Ofsted. This commitment to character development is what makes Wincham Community Primary School such a special place, ensuring that your child is not only academically capable but is also a happy, kind, and responsible young person.
We would love you to continue this conversation at home this week: What small act of kindness could you show a neighbour or family member today?
I am thrilled to announce our participation in the annual Save the Children Christmas Jumper Day on Thursday 11th of December. This event is a lovely opportunity for us to come together, celebrate the festive season, and raise vital funds for children in need around the world.
On this day, all pupils are invited to wear a Christmas Jumper. To maintain our high standards, please ensure children wear their usual school trousers/skirt/shoes alongside their festive top.
As a school that truly cares for every member of our community, we are acutely aware of the financial pressures many families face, especially during the festive season. Therefore, we are organising a FREE Pre-loved Christmas Jumper Swap Shop.
Donations Welcome: If you have any clean, good-condition Christmas jumpers your children no longer wear, please drop them off at the school office between now and Monday 11th December.
The Swap Shop: All donated jumpers will be displayed in the Courtyard Room for any parent to take, entirely free of charge. We hope this helps ease the burden and ensures every child can join in the fun!
Thank you for demonstrating the kindness and community spirit that makes Wincham such a special place.
We are so grateful to our fantastic Wincham Family & Friends PTA for organising a special festive event for our pupils!
The Wincham Elf Shop will be open straight after school on Friday, December 12th.
This is a wonderful opportunity for the children to choose a small treat or gift in a fun, safe environment. Items available will include:
🦌 Magical Reindeer Food
☕ Make-at-Home Hot Chocolate Cones
🎄 Festive Christmas Cups and Sweets
...and other surprise festive items!
All proceeds from the Elf Shop go directly towards enhancing the resources and learning experiences for every child at Wincham Community Primary School. Your continued support makes a genuine difference!
The joy of the festive season is already building, and we are thrilled to announce that our Treetops After School Club team is hosting their annual Christmas Party!
We look forward to extending our excellent pastoral care into this festive social setting, guaranteeing a safe, warm, and memorable evening for every child.

Thank you for helping us make this Christmas season special for our pupils!
This is a critically important final reminder regarding our survey on the provision of before and after-school care. We have already received many valuable responses, but we need to hear from every single family, whether you currently use our 'Treetops' club or not. Your feedback directly impacts our planning for the future, including potential capacity, session times, and activities, ensuring we meet the needs of our whole school community.
The survey is completely anonymous and will only take a few minutes of your time. Please access it via the link sent home in last week's email or directly on our website. The survey will close promptly today, Thursday, 11th December, at 4:00 PM.
Please make sure your voice is heard—we are listening!
Please can all parents be reminded how they park, especially outside other people's homes. We have received some concerns from our neighbours regarding access and safety at drop-off and collection times. We are a Community school, and being respectful to all members of our local area is a value we instill in our pupils every day. Please help us uphold this value by parking legally, considerately, and ensuring driveways and road access are never obstructed. Thank you for your support in keeping our community safe and happy.
Andrew has been a governor for 4 years, and was originally elected as a parent governor. Andrew now has a key role as a co-opted governor, and has served as chair of governors. Andrew is a local business owner and currently has 2 children at a local high school.
Each week we will feature a brief introduction to our school governors. Information about the whole governing board is on the school website.

This week’s guide highlights simple steps that can prevent overheating, fires and other hazards linked to everyday electrical devices. It offers clear, reassuring advice to help adults spot risks early and model safer routines.
It explores common risk areas, including unsafe charging habits and overloading sockets, and explains how to identify early warning signs such as damaged cables or poorly ventilated devices. The guide also touches on protective measures like RCDs and safe power bank use, supporting families and educators in creating safer environments for young people.
Our wonderful PTA make a fantastic difference to the lives of the children by providing resources that enhance their learning. If you think you could help with an event, or have ideas about new events, please get in touch.

Many families are struggling with rising energy bills, and some risk fuel poverty. Citizens Advice Cheshire West, funded by CWaC’s Household Support Fund, runs a Heating bank to provide emergency help with heating costs.
The Heating Bank is designed for families and individuals who may be struggling to keep their homes warm this winter. By offering temporary relief with heating costs, the service aims to reduce the health risks, stress, and hardship caused by cold homes.
Last year, we supported around 1,000 households with an average of £233 each towards energy bills. The service is free, confidential, and offers quick assistance to households on benefits who are struggling to stay warm.
How to access the Heating Bank:
Families can apply directly https://www.citizensadvicecw.org.uk/heatingbank/
Support is available to households who are in receipt of benefits and struggling to meet their energy costs.
The service is free, confidential, and designed to provide quick assistance.
By working together, we hope to make sure no family has to choose between heating and other essentials.
