The festive atmosphere was truly infectious as we retold the Christmas Story for the children this week.
The hall was filled with excitement as the pupils celebrated the season with lots of enthusiastic singing of favourite Christmas songs. It was a joy to see so many happy, engaged faces as the children immersed themselves in the festive spirit.
While the focus was on the beautiful Nativity story and the music, the assembly was a powerful demonstration of the core values we hold dear at Wincham. It showcased the children’s confidence, their ability to work together, and the strong, caring community that makes our school so special.
Seeing the pupils embrace this collective celebration reminds us why our school's ethos—ensuring happy, capable, and responsible young people—is so vital.
What an absolute joy it was to witness the fantastic Nativity performances this week! A huge, heartfelt well done goes to every child in Reception, Year 1, and Year 2 who took part.
Our youngest pupils shone brightly, delivering the traditional Christmas Story with such confidence, enthusiasm, and beautiful singing. Their energy and focus were truly captivating, showcasing the wonderful development we see in their communication and performance skills every day here at Wincham. It’s a powerful reminder of the excellent foundations laid in our Early Years and Key Stage 1 classrooms.
These performances are always a highlight of the year, but they simply wouldn't be possible without the incredible dedication and support from home.
A massive thank you to all the parents and carers who attended the event. Your support not only makes the assembly a success but demonstrates the strong, positive partnership between home and school that helps every child at Wincham Community Primary School thrive. We are a community that learns, grows, and dreams together.
We are so proud of our young stars and are delighted to have shared this magical festive moment with you.
We were incredibly proud of our Year 5 pupils this week, who demonstrated the very best of Wincham’s community spirit during a very special visit to Acorn Meadow Care Home.
The children visited the residents to sing a wonderful selection of Christmas songs and carols. The pupils' singing was beautiful, but it was their compassionate and respectful interactions with the residents that truly shone. Our children were superb ambassadors for the school, showing genuine warmth and kindness, which brought huge smiles and festive cheer to everyone present.
This visit beautifully embodies our commitment to developing children who are not just academically capable, but also compassionate, responsible, and active members of their community. Providing opportunities like this helps our pupils understand the importance of giving back and supporting those around them—a key element of the excellent personal development Ofsted recognised at Wincham.
It is so rewarding to see our pupils learning, growing, and sharing their talents outside of the classroom. These experiences are invaluable in preparing them to contribute positively to the wider world.
Thank you to Acorn Meadow Care Home for welcoming us, and a huge well done again to all of Year 5!
This week, our annual Christmas Jumper Day was a fantastic success, blending fun and festive cheer with a powerful lesson in empathy and giving back. Thanks to your wonderful support, we raised a brilliant £86 for Save the Children. While the amount is significant, the lesson is priceless: that we can all make a difference in the world.
This willingness to contribute, to care for others, and to act as positive citizens is not just a one-off event—it is woven into the very fabric of life at Wincham. It is why our Personal Development provision was so highly praised in our last Ofsted inspection; our children are exceptionally well-prepared to be thoughtful and responsible members of the community and wider society

This week, Mr. Boot successfully achieved the National Professional Qualification for Executive Leadership (NPQEL), following an intensive 18-month course. This prestigious qualification represents the highest level of professional development available for school leaders and focuses on strategic leadership across multiple settings.
This achievement reflects a school-wide commitment to continuous learning and educational excellence. As a team we are incredibly proud that several other members of our dedicated staff are also currently engaged in various National Professional Qualifications (NPQs) at a range of levels.
This collective commitment is key to ensuring we are the best teachers and leaders we can be. Our entire team is continuously learning and improving so we can consistently provide the very best education and care for your children.
Strong, ambitious leadership and teaching are essential to maintaining the high standards and the 'Good' judgement we achieved in our last Ofsted inspection. The expertise gained ensures that Wincham Community Primary School continues to deliver an ambitious curriculum, provide high-quality teaching, and foster the outstanding personal development that our pupils deserve.
Melanie Earl is a parent governor with 3 children at Wincham and runs a company offering childcare to families locally. Melanie supports the school through Wincham Family and Friends, and is now enjoying having more of an impact on the school through her governance role.
Each week we will feature a brief introduction to our school governors. Information about the whole governing board is on the school website.

Scalping has long been a frustration for fans hoping to bag concert tickets or exclusive toys, but the online world has supercharged this dishonest tactic. Scalpers use bots to buy up stock in seconds, then resell items such as consoles or collectibles at significant mark-ups. For young people, it can be disappointing and harmful to their wallets, wellbeing and worldview.
As this unethical practice becomes more visible, and, worryingly, sometimes glamourised online, it’s important to talk to children about fairness, financial boundaries, and spotting scams. This guide breaks down the tricks of the trade and how to avoid them, helping young consumers stay safe, informed and scam-free.

Many families are struggling with rising energy bills, and some risk fuel poverty. Citizens Advice Cheshire West, funded by CWaC’s Household Support Fund, runs a Heating bank to provide emergency help with heating costs.
The Heating Bank is designed for families and individuals who may be struggling to keep their homes warm this winter. By offering temporary relief with heating costs, the service aims to reduce the health risks, stress, and hardship caused by cold homes.
Last year, we supported around 1,000 households with an average of £233 each towards energy bills. The service is free, confidential, and offers quick assistance to households on benefits who are struggling to stay warm.
How to access the Heating Bank:
Families can apply directly https://www.citizensadvicecw.org.uk/heatingbank/
Support is available to households who are in receipt of benefits and struggling to meet their energy costs.
The service is free, confidential, and designed to provide quick assistance.
By working together, we hope to make sure no family has to choose between heating and other essentials.
