Common Sense Educator Website

This certification uses Digital Citizenship Curriculum Connections (K-5, 6-12) to help the learner plan and narrow down which Common Sense Education resource best fits their role in as an educator.

To begin the certification training, the learner is asked to view and plan their training using a Common Sense Educator Roadmap. This document (click on the link above to view) lists different activities to complete under the following four steps:

Learning Outcomes

The Common Sense Media Educator program adheres to the student-centered learning technique by providing learners options in what activities they will complete based on their interest and professional role.

The learner will:

  • Plan a path for learning by choosing activities that align with your professional goals.

  • Interact in two professional development opportunities, including trainings, webinars, workshops.

  • Teach two lessons on digital citizenship to students or develop a digital citizenship implementation program using an Implementation Guide.

  • Engage with district members and families using resources provided.

  • Evaluate learning by writing a 500 word reflection.

  • Apply for certification using a complete Common Sense Educator Roadmap.

Apply for Certification

Once the learner has planned and completed their Common Sense Educator Roadmap, they'll use it to apply for their Common Sense Educator certification and badge of recognition.
