  • Fact checker for the internet: This link has several interesting sections that provide a wealth of research and discussion opportunities. An archive is also available. If a student or teacher needs a starting page to find resources, I definitely recommend this site.

  • Extend students geography awareness by challenging them to answer the five daily questions posed at GeoBee Challenge. The questions are taken from the National Geographic Geography Bee.

  • Map Machine is an interactive tool to explore your world with map themes, data, and tools for customizing your map.

  • How far is it? Find distance between any two cities in the world.

  • Science warm ups: NASA's Astronomy Picture of the Day or Goddard Space Centers Earth Science Picture of the Day, both of which include a brief explanation of the days photo. You might also briefly discuss a scientist or a scientific event from Today in Science History.

Reading

  • Read Works : This site provides teachers with access to text on various grade levels and Lexiles. The passages are high interest non-fiction passages. There are multiple choice and constructed response questions. The passages are in PDF format, so you can use with Edmodo. Teachers have to create a free account for access.
