Hello! You might remember me as Ms. Elman, but I got married last year and changed my name. I am looking forward to seeing/meeting you and working together to make it a fabulous year for your second grader!

My favorite subject to teach is reading! I love reading and cannot wait to share that passion with my new students each year. There is nothing better than watching children fall in love with books! When I'm not teaching, you'll find me spending time with my husband, family, friends, and dog named Rupert. I also love to travel and create scrapbooks that capture all of my memories when I return.

This is me in 1st grade with my teacher! I knew even then that I wanted to be a teacher one day.
Rupert has a passion for learning too!

I have a true passion for learning! This year I will be working towards earning my master's degree in Educational Technology. I also hold a master's degree in Educational Leadership. I earned my bachelor's degree in Elementary Education with a Reading Teacher endorsement from Indiana University, Bloomington (GO HOOSIERS!). While in school, I had the incredible opportunity to travel to Australia to complete my student teaching.

This will be my 9th year of teaching, my 6th at Romona. Prior to coming to Romona, I spent two years as a first grade teacher in Antioch, IL and one year as a full-day kindergarten teacher in North Chicago, IL. I absolutely LOVE teaching second grade at Romona! I have wanted to be a teacher for as long as I can remember, and I truly feel like I am living out my dreams. I am passionate about helping kids learn and grow throughout the year, and second grade is a huge year of growth. I look forward to building a positive classroom community and helping your student grow academically, socially, and emotionally over the course of our year together.

I guess I'm always around kids! 😉
