Enjoy viewing the Story Walk at your elementary school as a family.

Create a time capsule with artifacts gathered from this year. Determine a point in time when it will be opened.

Have family members draw a picture of themselves or your family experiencing life in the pandemic. Construct a family book.

Think about...

• How did your family change during the pandemic? Outside? Inside?

• Author LeUyen Pham describes herself as not writing this book, but as “recording events.” How might you record events of your family over the past year? What medium would you use? What would you include?

• While the book is people-centric, animals play a part in the story. Did animals play a part in your family's pandemic experience? How?

LeUyen Pham is supporting food banks with a portion of the proceeds from the book.
Possible ideas for family projects include:

• Support area food banks including
  The New Trier Township Food Pantry or
  The Northern Illinois Food Bank.

• Collect items for a homeless shelter.

• Have older students read with younger students.

• Donate books to Bernie’s Book Bank.

• Write thank you notes to essential workers and deliver them.

• Write notes or draw pictures to cheer up the elderly or those in the hospital.
