Reading Rally
The fourth grade students in Wilmette District 39 participate in the Reading Rally Program. This program promotes reading from a list of 20 books selected by District 39 Library Information Specialists. Books are chosen for high quality, age appropriate content, and a variety of reading levels. The titles chosen coincide with the genres listed in the fourth grade literature curriculum.
Children are challenged to read a minimum of four books from the Reading Rally List. They may choose books from previous Reading Rally lists. If parents or teachers read a title aloud, it may be counted as one of the four. eBooks and audio books are also acceptable. When your children have finished a book, they should fill out the online Reading Rally Response Form. The students and I will talk about the Reading Rally Books many times throughout the school year. After winter break, we will be working on an iMovie Book Trailer in technology and library classes.
Students should work towards completing their first book before October 30, their second book before January 15, their third book before March 15, and their last book before May 15.
To earn the award for reading 4 or more OR the award for reading 20 or more, students must submit books into the Google Form by the date discussed during library class (usually around May 15).
