To help our students stay connected to reading at home, the Harper Library has several options for reading books online. Below are links to the eBook resources Harper students have access to at school.

SORA allows D39 students to access a collection of digital eBooks and audiobooks selected especially for them PLUS those in the Wilmette Public Library's OverDrive collection all from a single login. (See below for helpful getting started guides)

BookFlix is a digital literacy resource that pairs more than 135 animated stories from Weston Woods with a best-selling nonfiction e-book from Scholastic on a similar subject. The fiction and nonfiction pairings are designed to strengthen early literacy skills while exposing young learners to real world concepts.

Epic is the world's leading online children's subscription book service offering immediate, on-demand access to over 40,000 high-quality illustrated books and chapter books for children ages 12 and under.

A collection of more than 3,600 interactive eBooks published by Capstone. The Capstone eBooks allow students to either listen to a story or read at their own pace. The free Capstone Interactive app can be found on iTunes and allows students to download eBooks to the device for offline reading.

Wilmette Public Library

A collection of animated, talking picture books, read alongs, and eBooks that help teach children the joys of reading. (Login in with your Wilmette or Glenview Public Library card to access books.)

The International Children's Digital Library's collection includes 4,600+ books in over 60 languages. Students can do a simple search of the library to find a variety of eBooks in different genres and age ranges.

The SAG-AFTRA Foundation’s award-winning children’s literacy website, Storyline Online, streams videos featuring celebrated actors reading children’s books alongside creatively produced illustrations.

Unite for Literacy

Original, nonfiction picture books that support beginning readers of all ages. Books provide unique audio support to families who speak or are learning to speak English or foreign languages. The website gives readers the option of reading and hearing the story and in a total of 32 different languages (including American Sign Language).

Oxford Owl is an award-winning free website with 250 FREE tablet-friendly eBooks and activities to help support reading. Books are sorted by age level, genre, reading level, and series. Students can listen and read along to stories or read on their own. (Free login required)
