RESPONSIVE CLASSROOM

Responsive Classroom is an approach to teaching and discipline that focuses on the four areas above:  engaging academics, positive community, effective management, and developmentally responsive teaching.  District 39 uses Responsive Classroom as an approach to building positive classroom communities throughout the school, and it includes strategies such as the use of Morning Meeting/Responsive Advisory Meeting, Energizers, Interactive Modeling, and positive Teacher Language, the Responsive Classroom approach can be integrated into any content area to provide a foundation for Social-Emotional development across the school.  All D39 teachers should use Responsive Classroom techniques to support the community in their classrooms.

All D39 staff received foundational training with Responsive Classroom during the 2021-2022 school year.  In addition to the one-day initial course, staff received or has access to the following resources:

FALL SERIES FOR 23-24

This free webinar series examines the Responsive Classroom practices and strategies teachers and school leaders can use to build a successful school year experience for all students.  

This series is recommended for anyone working with pre-K through eighth grade students, though high school educators may also find it useful. 

All webinars are live from 7:00 PM to 8:00 PM Eastern Time (US and Canada).
