Any teacher who is interested in the burgeoning presence of AR/VR in education should consider joining the Merge EDU closed Facebook group. Merge recently announced they have added an education platform for Windows 10, Paint 3D, and have a Merge Ambassador program for educators.
The Merge EDU Facebook group is packed with educators sharing their creations with the world. Some recent posts include frog dissection, AR Rubik's Cube, how to create AR with Cospaces, and more. Merge also announced the cubes will be compatible with Chromebooks soon!

Willis ISD is a small-ish district in East Texas. Many of our students do not travel far from home very often. I feel one of my duties as technology coach is to open up the world for my students with diverse ideas, challenges, and to give my students their own voice and choice. The more they extend their experiences, the better they will do in school. So much learning depends on prior experiences. One way we can help is with Virtual and Augmented Reality, which has taken our district by storm!
Another way to open doors for our students is with Skype in the Classroom. Our iCoach at Meador Elementary, Dr. Michelle Hall, brought in Skype as a learning tool, and I am proud to say we have begun to embrace it at Cannan. Our next Skype experience is a virtual visit with Dr. Jane Goodall in April.
Please check out all that Skype in the Classroom has to offer to our young learners.

TCEA 2019 was awesome, I learned so many technology tools to share with my amazing *Rock Star* teachers! Here is a nice Chrome extension that lets you enlarge text on top of what you are projecting on your whiteboard. For example, you can beam up a join code for Kahoot or Google Classroom, or even a message with brief instructions. Click here for instructions.
If you want to learn more Google extensions (including the one that saves you $$$$$$), attend our next T3 on February 27, Google Play List!
IOS iPad
"Too Loud" Noise Meter and Timer
Rosa Garcia found this in the IOS app store and uses it with an iPad screen-shared from her projector to her white board. It is effective because the kids get competitive and keep quiet while having fun watching the meter. Set the timer duration, meter sensitivity and start the timer. The voice meter shows the noise level graphically. The animal behind the voice meter reacts, showing happy when it is more quiet and sad when it is noisy. Really cute, and Rosa says it works!
Be prepared for something new and exciting for our next T3 on February 13! I will be bringing back technology goodies and ideas for YOU, our amazing Cannan teachers! Register in Eduphoria.

Classroom management in a specialized learning space is a unique challenge. Our amazing Ms. King backs up her paper sign-ins in her busy classroom of 10 scholars with the Brightwheel app on her smartphone. It's a great way to handle roster management and attendance. The app includes photos of her students, as well as a daily schedule for each. She simply clicks on her students' photos as they enter and exit. She says her Brightwheel app is a lifesaver!
