Mrs. Perez has 30 years experience as a special education teacher, school librarian, and technology coach. Mrs. Perez started her teaching career in her hometown of Lake Charles, Louisiana as a special education teacher at F. K. White JH. She left to accept her first Library Media Specialist position at T. H. Watkins Elementary, where she served for 5 years. She then moved to Vincent Settlement Elementary in Sulphur, La., to serve as the Library Media Specialist for 10 years. She married her husband Jerry and moved to The Woodlands and served as the Library Media Specialist at McCullough JH for 8 years. They built their home near Willis, TX. in 2007, and she has served as Librarian and iCoach in Willis ISD for 6 years.
She has valued the role of technology in instruction her entire career, serving as the lead campus technology person in every teaching position she has held. Her undergraduate degree is in Elementary Grades 1- 8 from McNeese State University in Lake Charles, La. She holds an Education Specialist Degree in Information Technology and Education Leadership from Northwestern State University in Natchitoches, La. Her Texas teacher certifications are Generalist 4-8 and School Librarian EC-12. She also holds several teaching and administrative certifications in the great state of Louisiana.
