Greg Stang touched the lives of thousands of young people both in the classroom as an English Teacher for 33 years and as a coach for 40 years. He taught values as well as making English interesting to the most reluctant student. He respected his students and they respected him. He was famous for his "Stang" stories which taught life lessons and his hearty laugh. The kids called his class "Stanglish". He was a devoted husband and a proud father of 4 sons and 7 grandchildren.
Greg loved sports and he found a spot for himself as Coach of the CrossCountry, Indoor and Outdoor Track teams at Williamsville North High School. He found it was a way to connect with the students outside the classroom. Greg coached Cross Country and Track from 1972 to 2013. In memory of Greg Stang, this year's scholarships in the amount of $1,000 each will be awarded to one young man and one young woman from the Williamsville North Cross Country Teams who meet the criteria on the following pages.
