Who We Are
The Williamstown High School Band Program has been of fixture of Williamstown Jr/Sr High School since its founding. Over the course of its history, the band program has built a rich tradition of excellence while providing quality music education to numerous students.
The current band program serves almost 100 students. Ensembles include Marching Band, 8-12 Concert Band, 7th Grade Band, 6th Grade Band, Jazz Band, and Winterguard.
Marching Band
The Williamstown High School "Band of Spirit" Marching Band has an extensive history of success and is one of the giants in the history of Kentucky Marching Band. The "Band of Spirit" has 6 Kentucky State Championship Titles among numerous other accomplishments:

The Marching Band is comprosided of 7th-12th grade band students who have an option to join, however all band students are highly encouraged to be in the marching band. The "Band of Spirit" Marching Band has a long history of great tradition and excellence and is an important fixture in the community.
Concert Bands
The Williamstown High School Band Program is made up of 3 total concert bands. 6th Grade Beginning Band, 7th Grade Band, and 8-12 Concert Band. Students may elect to join band during their 5th grade year. Band is a 6-12 journey and must be started in the 6th grade or earlier. The 8-12 Concert Band attends the KMEA Assessment every year and consistently earns distinguished ratings.
4th and 5th Grade After School Band
The 4th and 5th grade after school band begins in January of the school year. Students are given the opportunity to begin to learn a band instrument before they join in 6th grade. This activity usually meets on thursdays once a week. Information will come out for the after school band in the fall.
Jazz Band
The Jazz Band is an entirely outside of school activity that begins after marching band season ends, typically in November. Anyone in grades 7-12 may join the Jazz Band. The Jazz Band comprosises of saxophones, trombones, trumpets, and rhythm section.
The Jazz Band meets once a week after school and regularly performs on all concerts throughout the school year. The Jazz Band is essential to the community outreach of the Band Program.
Colorguard and Winterguard
The Colorguard and Winterguard is open to any students 7-12 in Williamstown Independent Schools. The Colorguard is part of the "Band of Spirit" Marching band and meets for all marching band rehearsal dates. They are an integral visual aspect to the band program and a huge contributer to the success of the band. Colorguard squads utilize flags and twirling weapons to accompany their choreographed dance routines.
The Winterguard is a seperate ensemble that competes as its own entity. These rehearsals begin typically in December and the Winterguard will compete all througout the winter season on Saturdays against other top winterguards in Northern Kentucky. The Colorguard is led by Liz Glass with assitance from Tristan Pendergrass and Karson Heaverin.
