About Mrs. Berte

2020-2021 marks my twelfth year teaching at Williamsburg Community Schools. Here, I direct the 9th grade concert choir (Choir 9) and Treble Choir in the mornings, teach lessons for freshman and sophomore treble voices, and then head to Mary Welsh to teach K-1 general music in the afternoons. I also direct the select treble ensemble, Sirens, and prepare freshman and sophomore students for Solo/Ensemble Contest in the spring.

I spent my childhood in Dubuque, IA, where I attended St. Anthony Catholic School and then Hempstead High School. I was involved in music at an early age (even made mom cry with my 2nd Grade solo in the Christmas Pageant) and cultivated that love throughout high school, participating in every musical activity available to me (except band...I couldn't make a sound on any instrument or keep a beat...so, they stuck me in the choir). Luckily, I overcame my beat-keeping deficit and decided to make my passion a career.

I attended the University of Northern Iowa and graduated Summa Cum Laude in 2008 with a B.M.E. in Music Education. I also hold a M.M. in Music Education degree through Kent State University.

While my ridiculous amount of extracurricular duties (which I love...really!) keep me fairly busy, I enjoy spending time with my son, Graham, reading, cooking, and spending time with friends.
