The children embraced the festive spirit by decorating the Christmas tree, enjoying Christmas stories, and singing in the EYFS nativity. They also loved the cookies and hot chocolate party, and were thrilled by a special visit from Santa Claus.
The children enjoyed ‘Goldilocks and the Three Bears,’ learning about story sequencing, characters, and sizes in maths. They also had fun tasting different porridge and discovering their favourite flavours!
Nursery celebrated Diwali with enthusiasm and joy. Through colourful decorations, and creative crafts, the children learned about the festival of lights, its cultural significance, and the values of togetherness, kindness, and celebration. We ended the week with a fun filled Diwali party!
This term, we explored the topic All About Me, giving the children a chance to learn more about themselves and celebrate what makes them unique. They enjoyed talking about their names, ages, likes and dislikes, and what makes them special. Through fun activities like self-portraits, circle time discussions, and singing songs, the children shared their favourite colours, foods, and hobbies. We also looked at our bodies, senses, and emotions, helping the children develop self-awareness and confidence. It was a lovely way to start the year, as it encouraged the children to express themselves, build friendships, and feel proud of who they are.

Outdoor learning is a key part of our Nursery experience, giving children the chance to explore, discover, and learn through hands-on play in the fresh air. Being outside allows children to move freely, take risks, and use their imaginations in new ways - whether they’re climbing, collecting leaves, building with natural materials, or simply observing the world around them. It encourages teamwork, problem-solving, and resilience as they work together and try new things. The outdoor space becomes a classroom without walls, where every puddle, tree, and stone offers a learning opportunity.
The first day at Nursery was full of emotions - some children walked in with big smiles, excited to play and see what the day would bring, while others held tightly to their parent’s hands, unsure about the new space. A few tears were shed as goodbyes were said, but the staff were quick with calm voices and reassuring smiles. Some children jumped straight into play, building towers, painting, or exploring the role play area, while others needed a bit more time to settle, quietly observing or sticking close to an adult. As the morning went on, even the more hesitant ones began to relax, taking small steps - like choosing a toy or joining in during group singing. It’s early days, but already little signs of confidence and curiosity are starting to show.
