WiCyS Sri Lanka Mentorship Program – Guidelines
1. Program Overview
Duration: 10th October – 10th January (3 months)
Purpose: Connect experienced professionals with students/individuals for guided career growth
2. Roles & Responsibilities
Mentor Responsibilities:
Commit to the full 3-month duration
Decide the number of mentees you can guide (stated upfront during registration)
Have regular check-ins (At least 3 sessions for the program)
Provide constructive guidance on career development, industry knowledge and professional growth
Maintain professionalism and confidentiality with mentees
Mentee Responsibilities:
Reach out to your mentor to ask for their availability and coordinate a suitable schedule accordingly
Attend scheduled sessions punctually and consistently
Come prepared with questions/goals for each session
Respect the mentor's time and expertise
Provide updates on progress and be receptive to feedback
3. Communication Guidelines
Preferred communication platforms (e.g., Email, Zoom/Teams, LinkedIn) but can be decided by mentor and mentee.
Sessions should be professional and goal-oriented
4. Meeting Frequency & Format
Minimum 1 session per month
Mode: Online / In-person / Hybrid (According to mentors availability)
Suggested session duration (e.g., 15-20 minutes)
5. Code of Conduct
Mutual respect and professionalism at all times
No discrimination or harassment of any kind
Confidentiality of shared personal/professional information
Right to report concerns to WiCyS Sri Lanka organizing committee (srilanka-affiliate@wicys.org)
6. Program Exit / Discontinuation Policy
Either party can raise concerns to the organizing committee if the match isn't working
WiCyS reserves the right to reassign or discontinue a mentor-mentee pairing if guidelines are violated
7. Program Completion
Mentors and mentees expected to complete the full term (10th Oct – 10th Jan)
