Women in CyberSecurity (WiCyS) is a global nonprofit organization dedicated to bringing together women, allies, and advocates in the cybersecurity field. Founded in 2013 by by Dr. Ambareen Siraj with support from the National Science Foundation, WiCyS has grown into one of the largest professional organizations for women in cybersecurity worldwide.
The organization focuses on recruiting, retaining, and advancing women in the field through community support, mentorship, training, professional development, and networking opportunities. WiCyS hosts an annual flagship conference, regional events, and ongoing programs that connect students, educators, industry leaders, and government professionals.
WiCyS Sri Lanka Affiliate, launched in 2025, is a community initiated to inspire and empower women in cybersecurity while contributing to the global WiCyS vision. We believe that strengthening diversity is not only about creating opportunities for women, but also about shaping a more resilient and innovative cybersecurity workforce for the future.
Our focus is on bridging gaps, nurturing talent, and fostering collaboration among students, professionals, educators, and industry leaders across Sri Lanka. Through mentorship circles, knowledge-sharing sessions, skills-development programs, and outreach initiatives, we create pathways for women to enter, grow, and lead in cybersecurity.
